Hi Guys

At current im running the following :

Amd 64 3700 San diego
Thermalright 120
DFI Lanparty Nforce 4
2Gb Corsair Pc3200
2Gb - Some crappy DDR Ram
ATI X850XTPE
120GB Hdd IDE
Coolermaster Black Widow
OCZ 550Watt PSU

As you can tell its getting slow, and starting to pee me off ;)

Can i upgrade some bits (cpu ram mobo graphics and hdd) for £300 and have a decent performance increase ?

Cheers

Sam

yup

for that sorta money, you could get a intel e2180, a Asus P5K-E wifi mobo of some sort (or a cheaper P5K, a ATI 3870, some OCZ (2 x 2gb) pc2-8500 cs5 ram and a Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 320GB harddrive for as near as makes no difference 300 quid.

that system would overclock nicely (should be able to get 3ghz using the stock intel cooler). Would be a good upgrade

slightly over £300, to keep within budget could look around for a 3850 then get an aftermarket cooler for the 2180:

Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L Intel P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £49.99 (£58.74)

Asus ATI Radeon HD 3870 XT 512MB GDDR4 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail £84.99 (£99.86)

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (ST3250410AS) £28.99 (£34.06)

Intel Core 2 Duo E2180 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.00GHz (800FSB) - Retail £38.99 (£45.81)

GeIL 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C5 800MHz Black Dragon DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GB24GB6400C5DC) £46.99 (£55.21)

Sub Total : £249.95
Shipping : £8.95
VAT : £45.31
Total : £304.21

I done it the other week when i did a reinstall on my parents pc, worked fine. Just tell em it is on the same pc and only that one.

mp has the right idea, 3850s are going dirt cheap atm and are a very good buy. OC the 2180 and that machine would fly.

well you could upgrade cpu mobo ram, save your gfx and hdd for now. sell your old mobo cpu and ram and put that towards a gfx card which would net you a higher specked system in the end. should alow you to keep 4gb of ram spec which im sure you have become acustomed to.

Ok

How about if we said £250 inc VAT for a Mobo Cpu some ram and a heatsink !!!

That way i could have a much quicker day to day system and i could get a graphics card etc later as to be honest i do limited gaming !!!!

Cheeers
