Is it possible to backup a blueray or HD DVD movie to a PC hard drive ?

I hope this doesnt break any rules but last time I asked this sought of thing it was legal to make a backup of the disk you own.

Any way if you have a blueray or HD Rom drive is it possible to make a backup to your PC hard drive for storage ?

I doubt it without breaking the encryption and discussion of that is not allowed here.

I believe that it is still illegal to copy a cd or dvd, even if you own the original - although plans are afoot to change the law on this - see here

Yes it's possible
No it's not legal as you have to break the AACS encryption used (and you're not allowed to make backups even if there wasn't any encryption anyway)

I emailed sony and they said as it was me I could copy there blueray disks. must be my lucky day!
