On pc, and on my android phone I have not had to put up with a YouTube ads for years, and yet I don’t seem to be able to get rid of them on my iPad.
I have tried the following:
- avoid the official app
- access YouTube via the safari browser with some blockers installed -I have installed Firefox focus & AdGuard
- OR using the Firefox focus browser

-I’m still getting ads.

do any of you have a workings solution to this?

it is not just a question of irritation but a matter of public decency. I was watching some prince videos with my children and we were served up an ad about weird pants -support or lined, I wasn’t sure! As I have adblockers installed I assume this is because YouTube assume prince viewers are woman of a certain age, rather than being based on search history!

I don't think the mods will mind me mentionting the alternative appstore? It basically allows you to use your free apple developer account to sign non appstore apps? Then install youtube++

That said, I'd just pay £2 a month for premium, plus you get unlimited music with it

which one? Did you mean altstore?

Get an Android phone install youtube vanced.
As mentioned in the op, I do have an android phone (and I have vanced), I just wanted to get the equivalent experience on my ipad.

Currently I have gone for the altstore and YouTube+ solution. I am going to see how this goes, the need for the altstore apps to be regularly "refreshed" does shortly concern me, and it ends up being to much hassle I will get an Indian youtube sub.
