This may be a silly question but I am a novice in regards to computer building and could use some advice.
Before installing all components into a case, is it possible to do an external test boot using an AIO cooler such as the corsair hydro series, to ensure all components are working correctly?
For instance, I'd typically place the motherboard on top of its box, install the CPU, Ram, graphics card if available, and an air heatsink, lets say the Noctua NH-D14s, connect to the PSU, connect the cables and test boot outside of the case. (As shown within this video from 5:30 to 15:15 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_56kyib-Ls)
Is it possible to do this externally using say the Corsair H105, is the radiator effective when not mounted to the case? Or will the motherboard have to be installed, and all components tested internally within the case? I hope this makes sense to some of you computer guru's and will appreciate any feedback, thankyou.
