basically ive got 2 vga only monitors, however i wasnt able to connect the 2nd screen due to wrong dvi input on my gpu to the dvi-i to vga adapter, so untill i change gpu, i figured id get my 24" 1366x768 tv out the garage, it only has a single hdmi input and nothing else and then connect that along side one of my vga screens, however im guessing they both cant run together off the gpu?

they are both detected in multi screen option of the nvidia control panel and both set to 1366x768(pc mode for tv) or i use the tv 1080i option to match the vga screen native 1440x900, my vga works as expected, but not the tv... normally in these cases id use onboard graphics for vga outputs to get both working, but obviously the 860k has no gpu part.

so is it possible given the 710 should be able to dual monitor or would it only work using both hdmi + dvi input given they the same thing basically?

You say the TV has a resolution of 1366x768. If that’s the case then you’ll need to set the resolution in the Nvidia control panel to 720p (or even 1366x768 if possible) as 1080i won’t work - it’s too high a resolution for the TV to cope with.

thanks for reply.

well you say that, but on pc only the 'pc res choices' seem to work properly, when i had this tv connected to my xbox one i was able to choose the 1080p option and worked fine.

actually just an update, it turned out my hdmi cable wasnt connecting properly , so its all working now lol, my tv supports 1920x1080, but none of the tv resolutions scale properly, so ive set it to its native pc option of 1366x768 and to fill the screen on my vga properly i have set that to its native res of 1440x900.

im glad it actually worked as i did question vga and hdmi together on one card.

One thing you should be aware of is that recent graphics cards do not have any VGA output capability at all, so when you're buying a new card you'll have to get one of an older design.

yeah i know any of the newer gaming types dont use vga which would be obvious, but ive got a 660 now so im all good, but when it comes to a new card of worth then i will change my monitor anyways, i didnt want to use my tv, just have to for multi screen, i will get a better setup over time.
