Is it possible to get Heretic working on Windows 7 64 bit?

I just dug out my Heretic : Shadow of the Serpent Riders disk and wanted to play, but it wont work on a 64 bit OS

I really want to play this game again.

have you tried right click on properties, and where it said's compatability, run as win 95 - 98, not sure if it would work but give that a try

Yea, it doesnt work because it is incompatible with 64 bit, but I have managed to download the dosbox demo version of the first part of the game which works, but that only has 20% of the game, not the full version on my CD

When I try to run any of the files on the CD, they are incompatible with 64 bit.

Oh cool, I wanted the Heretic + Hexen compilation pack, i'll buy that on steam

And quake pack is only £8 today, may as well grab that too. £14.48 for all the old ID games =D

Try disabling all except one of your cpu cores.

The steam version works fine, it just has a different UI with the wapon thing at the bottom removed.

Or the UI is the same, just need to use the + - keys to adjust.

some old games on steam just use dosbox

Yea the steam version is simply running on Dosbox, my old CD version wouldnt install at all.

Use GZDoom http://grafzahl.drdteam.org/ best source port for Heretic, HeXen, Doom, Strife, Chex....
Compatibility, Stable, Fast, Has OpenGL support (you can choose Soft Render).
