yesterday, i woke up with an extremely stiff and aching neck and it's still here now. i thought i was coming down with something but i feel ok but my neck is very tender. i was panicking a bit but then remember on the early hours of sunday morning me and my friends were rocking out to some rock and roll songs, air guitar, general messing about thinking we were cool and i think it's from that :/ have i effectively given myself whiplash?

Does just sound as though you've pulled some muscles in your neck, I once managed to put my neck out just by drying my hair with a towel - couldn't turn my head for 3 days :p

It'll improve in a day or so, if not an osteopath can do wonders...

+1

Make sure you don't have any rashes though, aching neck can be a sign of other things.

Yeah, whiplash is common through headbanging.
You just need to man up and carry on as normal, it's the only way to get rip of whiplash. A double dose of codeine if it's really bad, it gives the day a nice spin too.

Aside from that, it can be from sleeping funny, I wake up with a stiff neck a couple of times a year. Treatments the same, man up and carry on.

Could well be the headbanging, back when we had decent rock nights here I'd go out fully expecting my neck to hurt for the next 2 - 3 days if the music was any good :p

Probably this. You would have had to do some serious headbanging to do any damage i think.
You'd be surprised, it's either the 2nd or 3rd biggest cause of whiplash in the uk.

If you have an issue, go see a doc. Not OcUK.

Bit of a waste of a doctors time isn't it? Thats like going for a runny nose.

You ask me unless you've got a debilitating condition, deteriorating health problem or chronic illness then its a big waste of time.
