Is it possible to make a Custom XMP profile?

Hi

I have seen other versions of ram kits just like mine but with different timings. I did manage to get to those timings stable. Is it possible to make this profile as an XMP Profile 2?

That article suggests it might be possible but I would advise you not to go there if it is, the last thing you want is to bin your memory.

Just set the timings manually if you aren't happy.

no no i am. but to achieve 2000mhz took me weeks and i don't really want to forget all the voltages and stuff i used

You'd be better off writing them all down or taking a couple of photos with a digicam to remember the settings.

hmm that's what i'm thinking. i'm not going to risk my my. the costs me a whole year of stipend to afford it.

I don't think what the original poster is looking for is possible with XMP, outside of motherboard specific abilities to save a couple of different BIOS profiles (asus have such a feature)

I think what he's looking at is something similar to Corsair's BEMP (Black Edition Memory Profile) for AMD versions of their RAM

I'd just go with the latter suggestion and take a picture of it and also a BIOS dump of the profile settings so you can load them up again later as you need.

Your BIOS should allow you to save an overclock profile.

ok so i'm bumping this thread up again because i have met with a software called Thaiphoon Burner which i THINK has the ability to create custom XMP profiles and flash them directly into the memory.

does anyone ever used this program that can confirm this?

I have used it in the past but never with DDR3 memory. Use at your own risk as you will void the warranty and can VERY EASILY brick your RAM.
