You can, although being 180nm might limit it, plus your motherboard is going to heavily determine the limit.

yer, corse u can....

however i get the feeling that your pc is prob a product from those guys in purple shirts..... or some other company like that... which may mean it's locked....

U never know in till u hit del at the BIOS screen....

I doubt you get much increase from it the Pentium 3 Coppermine core maxed out about 1.1ghz and i guess the Celeron version of it would be about the same.

Cheers guys!
Its an E-Machines pc just to let you all know.
I have checked the BIOS and there is no overclocking options at all.
Am I buggered?

You could try finding out the motherboard model and looking up the manual online. You may find how to get to the overclocking settings in there.

dont think its worth it to be honest... too old and increase in performance would be minimal, the only thing i would use that pc for is a simple file/print server, or install a lightweight linux variation for simple day to day tasks. What OS u using? XP? Does it even run well?

XP? Does it even run well?

Have tweaked XP to run well on much less powerful hardware than that :D

As for overclocking, its possible that clockgen, softfsb or something might work with the PLL if its supported though at 1Ghz and being a coppermine it prolly would'nt do much more. If it was a 1Ghz Tualatin core it might do 1333Mhz easily but alas its not.

Well, for your next system do look into overclocking, if you do your research you will be successful. Newer processors are easy to overclock ^_^

I found the 'Turbo' button on my 286 the simplest overclock ever tbh ;) Also as far as running XP on a system like that it'd be fine, granted modern games wouldn't be viable but general web/email/office would be fine with enough RAM. All the NT based OS's have been very forgiving on CPU power if you have enough RAM.
