Is it possible to play NTSC DVD's on a PAL Xbox 360?

..I'm talking about standard definition NTSC DVD's not HD-DVD's - I had a look through the Xbox 360 FAQ to no avail. Anyone?

Yup. I play NTSC dvds on my pal xbox 360 all the time. PS3 is region locked for dvds though.

Does it depend on if the DVD is region coded?

I can't see a technical reason a 360 shouldn't be able to play region free/multi region NTSC disks (there are some on the market).

Never has worked, and just tested some NTSC stuff on my Elite and it still doesn't work. It definitely shouldn't either. Maybe your DVDs are Region 0?

EDIT - Just to go with Werewolf's point, NTSC format DVDs should work, but if they are region locked they won't

Won't work if they are Region 1.

It can play NTSC no problem, but that is different to region coding.

Right, thanks for the replies, just to clarify...AFAIK, my 360 has the latest software updates installed and the DVD-Movie I'm interested in is described as 'All regions' and NTSC, so will I be able to play this DVD?
