is it possible to play steam downloaded games without internet access ?

noob question i know, but recently downloaded left4dead, know i cant access it cos the next door neighbour took my internet connection out so steam wont load .

If Steam won't go into offline mode then no. Left 4 Dead's not very good in single player mode anyway.
