reason i ask is that i'm on call from work and the laptop is that old its better to hibernate it than shutdown and restart if i'm called, but in the morning when i connect back into the network its lost its network connection.
tried scheduling a batch file to do shutdown -s (which understand should shutdown the system), and also shutdown -f -s (which i understand should force any apps to shutdown then shutdown the system).
