Is it possible to return something for incorrect warranty length?

I bought something recently (from an unnamed competitor) and I've used the manufacturers online warranty checker only to find out that it has 5 months less warranty than it should :(

I haven't opened it, it's still in the anti-static bag in which it was shipped. I've had it since the 4th of January.

Do you think I should be entitled to return it for exchange or refund?

Wishing I'd checked it within 7 days of it arriving atm, but I still think I should be allowed to send it back. Anyone agree/disagree?

Cheers,

G

I've already written an email to the people I bought it from asking if I can swap it for something else.

Wouldn't be surprised if they reply saying what you've just said Werewolf, now that I've read it, it does make sense.

Hoping they will let me send it back though cause it turns out I've had to return the laptop I bought it for and my other laptop has IDE instead of SATA so I no longer need a SATA drive.

I guess we'll see :)
