Or do I need a router?

What I mean is, do they do a double socket for the back of the modem where I just put in two leads each going to a seperate computer?

I do have a router but it's playing up at the moment and my pc won't recognise it!
It's worked fine for a year so I think it's broken!

Just wondering if I can do it this way instead of getting a new router cus \i got plenty of cables, just have to hide them under a carpet!

Cheers

You don't mention if you are on adsl or cable but in general you will need a router but certain (BT Wireless ?) ADSL modems allowed you to use USB and RJ45 iirc, I could be totally wrong but I think someone posted something similar a week or so back.

You mean something like a socket doubler such as those you'd use for telephone cables?

Unfortunately not. You'll need something to do routing - some modems have this functionality, or a PC could do it using ICS and a couple of NICs, or you need a full blown router - they're not that expensive!

What's the problem with the current one?
