iPhone 5 to android phone, G3 to be precise.

If so, any easy way of doing it?

Thanks

Make a backup file in the whatsapp options transfer it across and restore it on the G3, I've never done it but I'd imagine it's possible.

There's also an app on the play store for £1 which makes it a bit easier if you don't want to mess about with copying files over.

Did some Google search. There is a way round it. Just waiting for my sim to come in through post today. Then going to try it out if it works or now.

I've always thought it a bit poor that Whatsapp messages aren't stored in the cloud for you, considering it's a paid for service. (Or am I the only sucker that actually paid?)

Yup manage to do it.

Had to do full back up on my comp. Search the files on my E drive which contained 3 files:

calls.backup
calls
ChatStorage.sqlite
Then had to download Wazzap Migrator from play store and then it did the rest for me..
then uninstall whatsapp, then reinstall.

I don't want messages stored in the cloud. The fact that whatsapp deletes messages once sent is one of it's selling points. Now that they have end to end encryption, it's even better.

Whereas from my point of view it's a pain, because I change phones fairly regularly and have to manually transfer messages across.

Well I have to eat my words.

The whatsapp restore process they give on the website is stupidly flawed. I am unable to restore my messages and I didn't bother saving the key file.

It looks like even with the same number and gmail account, whatsapp is generating a different key file and so won't restore my messages.

3+ years of messages gone, fortunately none really had any sentimental value.

I found it only restores group chats not individual chats.

It is supposed to restore all, but the process is flawed.

Always extract the key file as otherwise it is impossible to decrypt the message database when the normal process fails.

iPhone to Android is quite simple using WazzapMigrator (an app from Play Store that only costs £1). However I'm not having much luck going the other way, Android to iPhone. Is BackupTrans the only solution and does it really work? Seems expensive at $19.95.

Not directly aimed at the OP, but why is having access to your old messages so important? I change phones quite a lot and frequently lose my texts and whatsapp messages etc. It has never bothered me really.
