Few months ago I bought a Laptop mainly for work, the laptop is a Compaq presario f500, which came with Vista :. I never expected it to play any games at all, but I would have thought it would play World of Warcraft only the problem is, the frame rate is so bad, I even have trouble on the login screen where the 2 flags are waving, it is really slow. I updated the laptop with the HP Update software and that updated the video drivers also and I have done some vista tweaks thanks to tips from youtube, it helped a little.

The card is a 6100 GO and what I want to do is use nvidia Forceware drivers, you know the standard ones they release for desktop computers, but it says on there site I need to update though the manufacturer (Compaq HP). So is this the only way?

Either get lumped by the drivers that your manufacturer give you, or download some newer drivers from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/

You'll possibly need to extract the setup files and download the modded inf posted into the extracted setup files, replacing the old inf.

Remember to do a back-up before you install new drivers. I tried to install some drivers from the above page on my new vostro and it didn't work, so I had to revert to an earlier back-up. So got all the Dell rubbish that I had just un-installed back!

Ok now I just tried installing the drivers, did everything it said replaced INF and half way through the install of the driver I got a BSOD and now when I restart the laptop it gives a BSOD so it wont even start windows anymore. Vista is trying to do a repair right now by restoring it to an earlier date
