Is it possible to use a wine cooler as a fridge?

I want a fridge for my room at uni, but I don't like the look of the normal white boxes. I really like the look of this wine cooler but would it be cool (get it?) to store milk, drinks, veg and general fridge things in it?

Cheers.

It depends how stable the temperature is, it should be ok, but it's probably not recommended by the manufacturer. Personally I have a Husky Kule Kube, which was £50 and does the job fine. Might also be an idea to check that you can actually have a fridge in your room at uni before you buy one, because some don't allow it.

Woah, £275 is kind of steep, how big is your room at uni and why do you need a fridge in your room? I lived in halls for a year and maybe I was just lucky but no one nicked any of my food.

A Husky fridge or similar is probably better given most rooms in halls tend to be tiny, I wouldn't rely on them too much but if you need a fridge then they are better than nothing.

Why would you get one of those and not a proper fridge? That thing probably wouldn't be good enough - its min temperature is 4, so you'd have to be working it pretty hard to keep it <= 5.

I have a proper fridge in my room

He's either fully catered, or he hasn't got much fridge/freezer space in the kitchen...

Fair enough on the fully catered but I don't see why the fridge/freezer space should be much of a problem if that isn't the case, we had 8 people sharing a normal sized fridge/freezer combo. I know possessions expand to fill up available space but we just sorted it so larger items(like milk etc) were bought between a few of us and that worked out fine.

Depends how much people eat/drink, and how often they go shopping.

We just bought an extra fridge and freezer (a few weeks ago). When we leave it will probably be left here. Worked out at £15 each, which is nothing really.
As for the mini fridges, I quite fancy one myself, my house mates keep drinking all of my milk. Short of putting rat poison in it there's really no other solution.

Too right - we have three normal-size fridges & a freezer between only 5 of us and we still manage to fill them

My fridge is looking a bit sad at the moment, though....shopping time at the weekend methinks.

sounds like your going into hibernation soon with the amount of fridge/freezers you have ;) :p
but more of a serious note how come you have soo many?
even with 6 people in our house at its peak (2 parents and 4 brothers inc myself) we had 2 freezers and even then they were not packed to the brim.

i dont think you can use a wine chiller to chill food, only drinks.

comet do a good one for £110 i think
and john lewis do one for £95

these are both "table top" fridges

I'm self catered and we have a smallish size fridge to cater for 12 of us, that's why I need the extra space! Two other people already have mini fridges in their rooms. The rooms are pretty big so space isn't really an issue, and we are allowed them.

My brother used to use a beer chiller to store his food, he found that they used to go off a lot quicker than they should so i would advise against it.

Pot noodle for the win! Only ever had a tiny little football shapped beer cooler in my uni room to keep a few cold ones handy when I really needed them!

Tesco were selling a table top fridge for £50 last time I was in - it's white, but a perfect size for one person.

If you don't like it put it inside a cupboard or paint it - spend the money you've saved on beer to go in it :D

you want one of these
