Just wondering because i've been getting a lot of disconnections recently and have been checking my router stats a lot and found an unknown assigned ip which seems to be constantly active. My master homeplug connected to the router is connected at ethernet port 1 and the router states that the unknown device's assigned ip is coming from that ethernet port.

All of my devices are accounted for and have named and assigned them reserved ips, but this unknown one keeps cropping up even when i delete it.

Also i'm with o2 broadband (20mb package), using a wireless II box, wireless is turned off (so its definitely not that) and then the rest of the network is via 3 homeplugs and 2 ethernet switches.

is your router issuing the ip or is it detecting a device with an ip issued by another router?

is the ip definately within your routers internal network (you could turn dhcp off if you have reserverd your proper ip's and see what happends)

can you ping the odd device

might it be part of the routers advanced functions (mulitple macs maybe multiple ip's)?

My old Homeplugs (8mbps) had a PC program that would show me them all, and allow me to secure them by inputting each ones 'ID's' into them all and they would only talk to those..

I guess if may be theoretically possible (in some way) that a neighbour could plug one in, and if unsecured, would associate with your existing homeplugs..

??
