is it possible?

R124 - me and mate 1 - £212.28 / Month TPO no excess

if mate 2 was added they wouldnt quote us :( not a problem though cos he can use dayinsure

thats on a 2 litre 1995 mondeo (petrol)

for comparison a 1.4 escort is £139.31 / Month

i can recoment ford diesels around about 10 years old... those 1.8 lumps are indistructable and mechanicaly timed so even if the alturnator and battery you can still jump start it and it'll get you thru to sunset (further if you have a couple of torches to use as headlights) but yeah, me and a few friends were also going to look round for something like this insted of useing our m8s dads renault espas, it's nice and big and cost £20k but it's unrelyable and we cant mod it. it was fun for the roadtrip we did on thursday.. we found out you could put all the rear seats in it backwards!!!

so keep us posted on what ever you find cause it might come in use to the rest of us :p

You're brave having a learner driver driving on a road trip. I presume "mate 2" is along to instruct, though I doubt there will be much "instruction" going on.

yeah the old 1.8TD ford lump looks interesting

slow and unrefined, but that doesnt matter :) reliable, good mpg and decent on a motorway is what matters ;)

john - yes and yes ;) i can trust him not to total the car :) he only failed at stopping on a red light cos some berk had span it round

A 740 estate would see you right, i got THIS
for £100 :D

6,000 miles later, I have had 0 breakdowns, been to france and back, and its still running fine :D

/edit - i think i remember showing you my car anyway, if so, disregard the above ^ :p

/edit2 - Smiley - did you never get rid of that 740 saloon? I thought you were gonna get a roasting if it wasnt gone in a few days ;)

does that volvo have those 2 back seats that face the wrong way round in the boot so you can take 2 extra drunk people home?

i've been in a merc like that but i dont think you could get one of them for 100 notes

It certainly is possible, I got my rover 214 sli 16v for 280 quid, really tidy car 14 years old but only 75k, all we have done is top up *** oil and change the coolant and check the engine over :) also 3.5 months tax and 4 months mot :)

No it doesn't. But im glad of this because I rarely carry passengers, so 5 seats is enough, and lack of a 7 seat conversion, means i can use the storage space that the 7 seats would take up, for THIS

Bargain-tastic, what mpg does she do

Well on the recent trip to le mans, I managed to have about 320-330 miles to a tank (about £40 to fill up) which isnt bad when you think we were "cruising" at 100mph on the way through france.

Town driving is dismal though, i get around 230 miles to £40.

Its funny how my mate goes on about how his 307 HDI does 50mpg and about 450 miles to a tank, but the difference being, His car cost £10k in the first place, mine cost £100 so i can afford the few extra tanks of fuel :D

you're a man after my own heart... that boot looks just like mine only a lot smaller and badly lit and i'm short one fire extinguisher... i should really invest in one of them as i have had a car blow up on me before after overheating and catching fire.

yup I got a nice little corsa for when it gets too cold/wet to ride the bike, I have no problem riding in the winter, but want to keep it nice. ( I know not what your after, but example of what can be had for cheap)

Power sterring, decent condition, changed the oil and filter, wacked a cambelt on it to make sure it will get through the winter, cost me £14 on bits, and £150 for the car.

Just get in the bargain section of autotrader, and get cheeky with people, someone will be desperate enough to drop right down on price. My corsa was £600 and she made the mistake of telling me she'd had no interest in 3 weeks and needed the space desperately. Ha, que well im not really interested, but i'll get rid of it for £100, done for £150!

I'd be looking at old merc's, beemers, volvos,

lol. Theres a fair bit more stuff in there now. A few lights and one light that alternates between a flashing orange, and a spotlight, theres also a coat, spare water bottles, some oil, ive pretty much got everything covered :D
