I was wondering if it is possible to build a high spec HD gaming Rig for around £750 - £850 ? if so could someone please spec me one i also want it to be pretty quite

what monitor will you be using.? and operating system.?

I have a 32inch samsung Hdtv or would it be better to buy a new monitor ? i could possibly go up to £1000

Well am practicing overclocking on my pc i have at the mo that i got for a free its a Dell Dimension 2400 p4 3ghz with 256mb ram with extra fans.

if you can overclock that, you will have a field day this the new computer mate, the E8400 3.0GHz should easily hit (with stock voltage and cooling) 3.3-3.6GHz which is more than enough for the most demanding of todays games

Could you recomend a decent cpu cooler that would fit and be good for overclocking ?

Am not too sure TBH i have a copy of vista and several Xp copies but someone said windows 7 is good any ideas or which would be better ?

Hmm with those specs, i wouldnt go xp, nor windows 7, its still in the beta stage which means its still not yet compatable with some hard/software and games, if i were you i would go vista home premium/ultimate 64bit of course for the system/graphics ram to be fully utilised

My Vista is 64bit premium.
not sure what my xp is ?
