Hello, guys, I'm wondering if it is possible to connect a keyboard and mouse from my pc to my sofa bed The distance is approx 3 meters away from my pc. However, to guide the wire around the room it would require 4.5-5meters. Im not sure if this can be done. I only want to connect my keyboard hyperx alloy (it has two usb requirement + my mouse logitech g700s, yetit's a wireless mouse so can get away without a third usb). Any recommendations and advice would be appreciated

I thought about buying a wireless keyboard but Im not sure if there are any mechanical wireless keyboards available as they weren't any 2-3 years ago. If they are available then I may consider but it cant be super expensive as wont be able to afford at the moment.

I know Corsair make the K63 which is a wireless mechanical keyboard. If you want to go wired, you will probably need an active USB extension cable because the normal ones start to lose signal at that length. Google will give you plenty of results for those.

I looked into this for my setup. The maximum length in USB 2 specifications is 5m so it should work. How much power does the keyboard draw?

Alternative options are an active cable, or a powered hub at some point in the length. I bought two extensions for keyboard and mouse and it works fine, reliable and no latency. Mine may be 3m rather than 5m as that was enough for me. Try it!

Thanks a lot. If I were to go for active cable or maybe a hub what would you recommend i.e. brand etc.
Not sure actually - I think active cables are rare. Powered hubs will basically be all the same, so buy something that looks neat/suits the location it'll go in. Bear in mind you'll need a USB A-B cable to go to a hub, not an extension.
