Hey guys quick question is it safe to buy Arma 2 used providing the person selling doesn't go online at the same time with the same key? for example i bought COD 4 used. they key worked, but sometimes when i play online it wont let me join a game because it says something about my key already in use and i have to wait. i read on the net that if you bought it second hand its a sign of the person who owned it before still playing it with that key. thanks for any help.

I bought mine second hand and have had no problems. Been meaning to sell it on, but never got around to it.

There is an anti-cheat system called BattlEye that certain servers required, but my copy was fine with that too. No idea if it locks out serial keys if they have been detected using cheats.

interesting, thanks for your reply.

This is the main reason I'm uneasy about buying used games, with the drm used in modern games its too easy to be locked out of online games when the previous owner is still using the key.

Before you had things like securom you could simultaneously use the same cd key with no issues with a large proportion of games. An example is Unreal Tournament 2004, you can have two people using the same key online and there is no issue.

I don't know if arma 2 uses drm, but if you find out that it does, I'd definetely buy a sealed copy. Only way to be sure!

This reminds me of when I sold a carrier bag full of old pc games to gamestation, should have kept the cd keys...sold some goodies like splinter cell chaos theory and freelancer :(

I've bought plenty of PC games second hand, including ArmA 2, ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead and ArmA 2: Reinforcements.

No problems, ever.
