Hi i wanted to tidy my laptop cable a bit and was thinking of looping the part of the cable from the converter to the laptop with some velcro, but then i worried about if you can cause issues with the current by doing this, or is it generally fine to do it so long as the loop isn't too tight and loose?

Probably lol

yeah, because sometimes it can cause interference.
For example if your power line has already some noise, it can get worst :p

Nothing is going to explode :D, but this only applies to devices that don't use much current, if you are using lets say a heater, kettle or something like that, I would not advise to do it.

I've never had a problem with my laptops
