Is it secure to buy through xbox

If you got your wallet nicked someone could have a jolly old time too.

Its all relative. The security is fine, if your account gets hacked then of course they could use your card. If I walk outside I could get hit by a meteorite etc etc.
 
Buy a pre-paid membership 12 month card. Once they have your details, they make it very hard for you to remove them. After 12 month expires, buy again etc.

Well, it's not hard, but it is a pain. I had to call up and persuade an Irishman that I didn't want to have my membership automatically renewed.

I much prefer to use cards.
 
Yeah but if you pay for 12 months with a credit/debit card, you have to get Xbox support to turn off autorenew and even then your card details are stored as being with an associated service. I can't delete my card details now until my gold sub expires next September. That's a bit of a security risk if you ask me.

No more risky than Amazon or Paypal keeping your card details, surely? In fact, less so, as all someone with your Xbox account could do is buy you live subs and points.
 
I would say it's more secure than paypal/amazon ect ect, simply because the console isn't a target for fraudsters on such a scale. So your card details are just as safe, if not safer because of the above.

But a has been said, if you still don't trust it, buy a game card, with cash, in store... Problem solved.

After you have used your card, go to xbox.com and log in with your xbox live details if you want to remove your card details afterwards.

If someone did happen to hack your account, your covered anyway as its fraud...

Yup this is what i do just to play it safe.

Buy what i want and go online and delete details.
 
The only way I could get my CC out of my live account was to claim it was lost and get a new one, then the old one became inactive and XBL threw a hissy fit for a year, then finally gave up and put me back to a free account.

Mind you, I believe you can remove CC's a lot more easily these days.

Still, I'd much rather trust a pre-pay card.
 
If its not secure then I would be VERY surprised.

Just use a credit card in case the payments go **** up of some form of fraud occurs. At least you have more chance getting the money back with CC companies.
