Is it still safe to use Sygate Personal Firewall?

I'm looking for a decent Anti-Virus and Firewall to replace my crappy Norton Internet Security 2004. I'm probably going to get NOD32 for my anti-virus, but I'm not sure about the firewall.

Sygate seems to get a lot of recommendations, but I saw that development has been discontinued. Is it still safe to use this or should I be looking at a different firewall? Kerio seems to be popular so I might go with that if Sygate isn't safe any more.

I don't think the Sygate firewall has been updated for a while. I still use it..it's always been a favourite of mine. Still works like a dream and i'd need a very good reason to change.
