Hello,

So i´m going to buy my last parts next week since i had everything except the GPU for about 6 years now and i was wondering if i also should switch my PSU? I had just recently and every couple of weeks a blue screen "DPC WatchDog Violation" (had this for about 1 year now... might be ever since bought the additional 2x 4 GB RAM sticks) was the last one i remember and random PC crashes where my PC just turns off but boots normally when i turn it on again... could it be caused by my PSU? or more likely my RAM sticks since i upgraded to 16 GB but when i bought the same sticks they apparently have different timings? The PSU back then was very expensive so i´m not sure if it´s necessary to upgrade the PSU on expensive models since i heard some ppl used/use their PSU since 8-10 years.

Thanks in advance!

Are all drivers up to date ?

You could run memtest to see if there's any issues with your ram.

I´m updating some outdated drivers right now but i think most important drivers are updated.
I´ve done memtest like 6 months ago and no errors have been reported. I can run the RAM at 2400 MHz manually but games crash when i activate XMP... otherwise everything running fine.

After i read what a dpc watchdog violation i doubt it has anything to do with your psu. Are you using any old wifi or sound cards, it more to do with hardware running and none of your set up should be causing issue in windows 10.

If you think your power supply is dodgy you can alway clean the dust out, a few screws should take a side off. But a lot of people would recommend against ever opening your psu. I opened one i never planned to use again and it was caked in dust. But it is completly your choice.

I do use a pretty cheap Wifi card on my PCIe lane and haven´t updated drivers for that one for a while i think.
Now that i think about it, i never checked how much dust is in my PSU... probably should look it up if there is dust i can remove from the outside. Other than that what do u think about keeping the PSU in this situation? As far as i know the PSU has a 7 year warranty so it should be fine for maybe 1-2 more years?
