Evening all!

It's been a while since I bought some new stuff for the old PC and I'm getting that all too familiar itch.

I was wondering if an i750 set up would give me a very noticeable boost in performance from what I currently have? Or should I wait until the next cycle of Intel's releases to bother? My setup is in my sig.

Would an AMD set up be an option?

I use the PC mainly for the internet, some games, and I'm planning on a doing a fair bit of encoding since I'm planning on getting an iPhone and watching stuff on the way into work. Oh, and I would most def be overclocking it! :D

Happy to hear your thoughts guys

£500 isn't a pittance, nor is it bank breaking, it's all a matter of what I can get for that money. I worked out an i5 setup could cost me £321, i7 £431. £300 mark is mighty tempting...but my PC isn't excactly struggling with anything.

If the performance boost isn't particularly noticeable in day to day stuff, I may leave it for a few months until the tech becomes cheaper/something nice and even shinier comes along. And may even slip in a SSD in there while I'm at it. Just for japes.

Thanks for the opinions though, you've cured the itch for another 3 months :)
