You wont notice the speed drop. Only the 256gig varient needs the SATA 6Gbps

so its still compatable with my 3gbps? without having to buy any extras? like if i bought this and it arrived tomorrow i can use it without buying any extras?

Yes its backwards compatible with SATA2 thats on your motherboard, you will just be limited to about 300Mb/s because thats the max of SATA2.

Is their a huge difference in real use in say using the intel 80gb on sataii than over the gbps connections?... Sorry if I'm hijacking!

if you have faster than 300 mb speed you can use a sata 3 controller card, but it is best to go for a less than 300mb/s sata 2 ssd for your type of mobo
