Hi

I`m planning on buying a HDMI cable to connect my computer in my sig to my Panasonic TX-P50VT20B 50-inch 3D Plasma TV and since
I have a Zotac GeForce GTX 480 AMP Graphics Card, I was wondering if it's definitely true that with the NVIDIA GTX 400 Series
of Cards you no longer need SPDIF passthrough to your Motherboard or Sound Card for audio through HDMI and all is needed is to
connect the HDMI cable to the HDMI port on the back of the GeForce GTX 480 and then to the TVs HDMI port and then select
NVIDIA HDMI Audio as default in Windows 7 Sound -> Playback Devices?

Thanks for responding.

Thanks guys for the quick response .;)

One other question.

If I connect my GeForce GTX 480 to my Onkyo TX-SR608 HD AMP by HDMI, will I get 5.1 HD sound or just normal 5.1 digital surround?

Yes thats what you should get. This is one of the reasons i didn't even considder a 470/480 this round, didn't want to sacrifice my hd audio :)
