As a general question: Is there any simple way to check on what remains of your student loan to pay back?
Is it worth doing overtime?

No.
If you sign into the website you can see what it was at end of last tax year. Other than that, you have to keep count yourself and you have to tell them and send your payslips off if you don't want to continue paying, once it's paid off.
Otherwise they won't stop taking money till the new tax year and then give you a refund.
