Is it worth getting a 360, just for Forza 3?

Gran Turismo 1 is favorite racing game (I've played 3 briefly, but didn't have a PS2)

The more I look at Forza, the better it looks compared to the new GT game.

I don't own a 360 or PS3, and afaik Forza isn't coming out on the pc.

Would you say it's worth getting a 360 just for Forza?

Is there any way to quieten the 360 without voiding the warranty, one observation I've made when playing on other people's 360's is that they sound like rocket ships compared to my pc

Does Forza work in 1080P?

I think forza 3 is a great game and the xbox 360 is very cheap now aswell so i would say its worth it in that respect aslong as you will play forza 3 a lot. The only way to cool a 360 properly is to void the warrenty and open it up. Forza 3 is also upscaled from 720p. Hope that helps you ;)

Ok

All I'd need is..

360 Arcade
Forza 3

My speakers are z5500 (optical / coax)
TV is HDMI

Would I need any other cables?

I've been ill all of January, so have loads of money that wasn't spent on beer

Console won't be used for media centre or anything like that

Ideally you want a HD for Forza 3 its 2 discs + Motorsports Legends pack DLC (10 cars 2 tracks) almost 10GB installed.

I,m sure for the 2nd disc of forza 3 you need a HDD as it installs the additional content ... ??

Yep, you want a HDD really... and get the LCE pack, which gives you extra cars that you can download etc..

I saw a good offer just after christmas, 60Gb 360's in Quantum of Solace packaging (assume included the game) for £130.. From a retail park computer selling type of place...

Forza is just a driving game at the end of the day, so that aspect might soon wear off (as all these games do), however if you get into many many competitions, time trials, forum held 'series' and painting, tuning etc, it's certainly very compelling.

Would I buy a console just for it.. No, but It would push me over the edge, as it opens the door to other great games..

I'm doing the opposite for GT5, getting another PS3 just for this game, but obviously will then get all the great exclusives for it as well!

Definitely worth it if you are into driving games. Plus the new F1 2010 game by Codemasters is coming out shortly (April/May?) although haven't heard much news on this one lately - might have slipped. Hopefully Codemasters won't make it too arcadey.

Hard drive is essential for Forza 3 imo. Plus this will make the 360 a lot quieter as you can copy all of the game to disk and the DVD drive is not spinning all the time.

No. I don't think any console is worth buying just for one game.

IIRC Forza runs at 720P.

I bought an N64 just for the Goldeneye & I would buy a 360 just for Forza 3 if I didn't already have them Both, Limited edition an all.

Play it from the HD & noise isn't an issue. Forza3 has Superb sound anyway so you'll want it through your house system like me anyway. :D

Also mate Don't buy an Arcade buy a 2nd hand unit from a well known chain & get the 2 year warranty with it from Them.
I bought an Arcade then went from 20GB to 60GB & then when Forza3 came out I goit myself a 120GB.
You will only need a 20GB if Forza3 is all you will load to HD but still you Need a HD.
Add me as soon as you get it sorted & I will gift you a couple of decent cars to get you on your way.

GT = VeryVoid :cool:

Thanks for all the info guys, it won't be until the end of February as I'm moving house
I'll keep an eye out for a combo pack or something

Can I just buy a laptop drive? or do you need a special connector?

I assume the cars are pretty customizable without needing a superb knowledge on cars (like GT was)

Seeings you have a month I would just keep an eye on the M&M & buy it from a Trusted member on here.
Then you'll get all the expensive peripherals, HD cable, extra controller, charge pack, HD & some games thrown in for say 150 quid Tops.

Are Microsoft funny about transferring warranties?

I read a lot about RROD!

Not at all as the 3 year warranty goes by the serial number.
There are also chain stores that offer replacement services & 2 year warranty's. :)

I managed to get an arcade 2 games and an extra wireless controller for £119. Was meant to be £129 but i haggled them down.. Thats in the place where we buy Game s..

Look at getting an Elite if you are worried about noise.

I've had an original Xbox, which has been replaced a few times, but they have always been very loud, so much so that I can hear it upstairs. I recently bought an Elite when my last original Xbox died and the difference in noise is substantial. If you install a game to the harddrive as well, it really doesn't make that much noise, and you no longer need to crank the volume to drown it out.

If your going to buy a machine for essentially one racing game, I recommend you get a wheel as well. I'm not a huge racer, I've got Forza 3 and Dirt 2, and have the official wheel and it makes the games so much more fun.

Do it man, there will be other exclusive games you will buy as well without a doubt.

I have a 360 and I bought a PS3 just MGS4 and GT5 (yep that long ago!) And now have 34 games for it!
