been thinking about buying an xbox 360 so that we have a better way to play games together. only thing i'm concerned about is there really many games to play together using the one console? i've played mw2, halo3, which are great fun, but i can't think of many others i'd want to play.

can anyone list some games i should look at that'll be good for boy/girl co-op, and boy/boy co-op, and then finally any good games for single player?

I rather enjoyed Alan Wake, it's a very well-presented game. Slightly over-hyped perhaps and I can't quite see what took them so long to finish it, but it's good nonetheless.

For co-op, Gears of War is always a good shout.

if i was to get a second hand one, what should i look out for? i'm interested in getting one that isn't going to break in a few months time with rrod so i assume a more recent one, but what is that?

Co-op stuff:

Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 - great fun
GoW 1 and 2 - Average in SP but far more enjoyable in co-op
Halo 3 and Halo ODST - Great co-op
Lego Batman/Star Wars/Indy - not my sort of thing but girls might enjoy it
Army of Two games - Designed for co-op
Resident Evil 5 - great in co-op apparently
Borderlands - Diablo style action FPS/RPG, better in co-op
Rock Band/Guitar Hero - great with multiple people
Castle Crashers - Superb Retro side scrolling hack and slash
Fable 2 - Good fun role playing game, entire game is co-op
Kameo - odd action/adventure type game
Rainbow Six Vegas 1+2 - really good co-op games

One with a jasper chipset has the least chance of breaking (they're the newest). You want one which has the serial number seal intact - to ensure you still have warranty, other than that you should be fine.

I bought a second-hand one from the MM a few weeks ago, been absolutely fine so far and was a bargain overall considering what I got with it. It was bought new in December anyway so it's not very old.
