Hi been a while since a posted, but thought id ask your advice :)

I recently upgraded my Graphics card and power supply and now feel that my 805d is really letting my system down. im getting a score of just over 5000 with 3d mark 06 and have been told with my card etc i should be seeing over 10,000.

Question is do I bother with the E6600 or go for one of the cheaper core2duo chips and save myself some cash.

My specs are:
Asus P5W-DH Deluxe
EVGA 8800 GTS Superclocked
2 gig Geil RAM (the stuff on offer at the mo)

The performance you could get with a 50 quid e2160 clocked to 3GHz is surely worth the small outlay. That's what I would do in your case.

Do you think that would surfice in terms of getting me over 10,000 in 3d mark 06?

Thanks for the advice :) very helpful indeed think ill take it and order a E2160, the reason I mentioned 3d mark is because its the only if you like reference I have as to where id like my PC to be or where it should be performing with the recent upgrades.

Thanks again

Craig

Well just fitted the chip and for some reason im getting a CPU UCODE ERROR on start up  it also seems to take ages to resart.

So far ive only got it running at about 2.5 I tried for 3.0 but it was a non starter :( this was on the stock cooler because i forgot to order some thermal paste for my Zalman CNPS9000

Can anyone shed any light on this error code?
