Hey all,

I'm going to order my iPhone today, but i've heard rumors that a 3G version is just around the corner? how big is this corner? if it a couple of weeks, i'll wait, if its a couple of month, i'll buy now.

I know no-one will have a definite answer, but hey i'm sure you guys know more than me :p

cheers,

MunkieMann

Order it now.

3G iPhone confirmed, but, no way near release yet. End of this year I would think at the minimum.

The iPhone memory was increased on Tuesday, so I don't expect they will bring out a new version months after upping the memory size.

I would have thought the same thing, there not gonna release a new model with more memory and then a couple of weeks later release the 3-G model. They would have done them both together.

Hope to hear good things about the iPhone. :)

woot :) got my iPhone, how do i transfer music to it tho?

i don't have it sync'd but it will not let me drag music onto it (like you do with iPod's)

Cheers, loving it btw, so happy!

What firmware have you got on it? 1.1.2 or 1.1.3?

If you have 1.1.2 you can only automatically sync it, so you must have music in you Library and set it to automatically sync music.

If you have 1.1.3 then you can tick manually sync music so you can drag it on.

When the iPhone 2 gets released, any reckon we'll get a discount on it for being loyal customers?

I live in hope. Or Dreamland.

No, wont happen any time soon.

Needs to be put through FCC compliance application first and the public will definitely hear about this. From then it can be up to 6 months before it's released.

FCC - Federal Communications Commission.

A new 3G chip in the iPhone is to do with communications and therefore will be put through the compliance application.

Increased memory has nothing to do with it.

Minor changes, such as the increased memory and software updates don't need to go through FCC approval.

What I do know is..
The original iPhone had 8GB, and the iPod Touch 16GB*
*The 16GB was achieved by sticking 2x 8GB flash modules together.

The 16GB iPhone may be a single 16GB flash module as the prices have come down, but I suspect the 32GB iPod Touch is in the same situation.. it's 2x 16GB modules stuck together (or a single 32GB module to keep it slim).
