Very tempted in the Philips 200W6CS 20" Widescreen TFT. Currently have an older iiyama 17" TFT, which is ok. Would love the Dell 2405FPW, but cannot justify 700 quid on a monitor.

Is it really worth it though moving from 1280/1024 to 1680/1050? Is it really that much better or bigger even?

What have your thoughts been moving from a 17" TFT to a 20" WS? Worth it to you or not..

Cheers..

got the NEC 20.1" WS model and I love it. Moved from an LG L1710b 17" TFT.

There is a little backlight bleed on mine though, but apparently this can magically disappear after a few days of use, and tbh it's not that noticeable unless i'm looking for it.

If it persists then I will call NEC and they do delivery swap overs I believe.

Yeah was looking at the NEC..Looks good. But the price of the Philips is so bloody tempting!

Oh sod it...Lets go buy it...Hmm I am so easily convinced!

indeed but I believe the consensus is that the NEC is more impressive :)

Lol i'm not getting into a e-willy waving contest with you ;)

I'm sure they are both great monitors! Hope so, have just ordered the Philips!

It looks like the same height and it almost is. The hpilips does have a tiny bit more vertical desktop space.

:D you can justify anything if you want it enough, its whether or not you can stand to see in a couple of months, substantially less in cost :D

Bigger monitors are something I've never regretted. From the time I went to a 14" to a 15", from the 15" to a 17", from the 17" to a 24", I've always looked back and thought "How the hell did I get along with that old thing???" You can splunk £500 on a graphics card and it's out of date three months later; with a monitor at least it's out for a while. I can justify a lot of cash on a monitor far more readily than any other component
