Looking to upgrade my dual core sk 939 system (x2 3800 @ 2.7)
Never had an Intel before always stuck with AMD,but looking through the forums Intel seems the way to go at the moment.
At the end of the month i'm upgrading my x1950xt to a 8800gt which i know will give me a performance boost in gaming.
What i want to know is it worth upgrading my x2 3800 to something based around an E2200 (hopefully clocked to 3ghz) or maybe a E4500 is the 1mb extra cache worth it and do these overclock just as good,or should i just stick with the 3800 for now.
Oh 1 more thing i do encoding but not enough to justify the price of a quad core.
Thx in adance :)

most e2xxx, e4xxx and e6xxx chips go to 3GHz without problems. Have a look in my sig at the effect of the cache. Also steve258 has done a similar (and more detailed) comparison.

Thx for the review link on the effect of the cache it was very informative, think ill stick with a E2 going on that review.
Anyone got any links or know of a comparison between my x2 3800 and the E2xxx. in real world performance.Thx :)
