Hi Everyone,

I'm currently running 4gb of Corsair DDR2 Value Select PC2-4200C5 and was thinking of getting Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX (2x2GB). the reason for this is that i was getting a few crashes which i put down to overheating RAM which i stopped with a fan.

i want to know if spending over £100 is really worth it? Will it make my system faster, more stable? increase my overclock?

My system is as follows:

p5k pro, E8400 @ 3.7 (410*9), 3870x2 (running as fast as it can go on CCC) plus the above ram.

Any help or advice would be great.

Thanks
Paul

pluss my ram has a vista rating of 5.9 (not sure if that means anything) and it has passed hours of prime ram tests now it has a fan on it!!

thanks for the reply. Am I really going to notice any difference in the real world? I know they'd prob do better in benches etc but thats not why i want them.

Thanks
paul

Usually you should only go for faster than PC2-6400 if it's going to hold back your overclock.

But, 4gb of PC2-8000 can be had for £65-70 these days. I paid £120 delivered for 8gb of OCZ PC2-8000 a good couple of months ago.
