Is it worth it?

I have a set-up which is as follows:-

E6600
P5Q M\B
4 GB GeIL ram (value)
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX (768 MB)

I don't overclock, a bit wary of playing around with the system at the moment.
So I'm considering upgrading the processor. Take into consideration that I play games, FarCry 2, F.E.A.R 2, etc. Would it be worth swapping my E6600 for a E8600.
I don't intend to think about the likes of the I7 for at least another year, just looking for a reasonable fix to tide me over.

I would appreciate any thoughts on the subject.

i would opt for a cheaper E84/500

and a GTX275 that should be more than enough to handle those games

I don't think changing the CPU would have much effect, not worth the cash in my opinion. Overclocking it a bit would certainly be worth it though.

OC the E6600 & it will be fine for another year.
