Hi guys

Do you think its worth geting a new mobo so i can use crossfire??

My specs
Gpu 4850
Mobo p965-ds3
Cpu-e6600 @ 3.4

95thrifles, has said it all - patience is the key to your next upgrade when thinking of spending that amount of money just for a gfx upgrade.

EDIT: 95thrifles - where have the women gone from your sig? (i can understand you getting rid of 'Dannielle what's her face' - but i quite like the montage. ;))

Is your system struggling in games?

If it is which games and at what res?

It maybe that a simple second hand 4890 would fulfil all your requirments without running the risk of a second hand MB and gfx card and the associated hassle that 'sometimes' accompanys that type of upgrade.

I was thinking about the upgrade to play dirt2 and Nfs shift at 1920*1080 on a 42''

your cpu's not that great anyway IMO so not point upgrading any further.

Go for a 5870 / 4890

crossfire 4850s is just silly imo just a lot of hassle & heat. for what a lone card can do.

As neither game is released yet (nfs – next year?) - and bearing in mind you were thinking of buying a second hand MB and gfx card - i would still be inclined to wait and sell your 4850 in month or so and get the 5870 (DX11 to consider too).

Otherwise, personally i would get a second hand 4890 as buying a second hand MB and 4850 seems a lot of effort and potential risk – for games that ‘should’ run quite comfortably on a 4890 with you present setup.
