Hi All I,m looking at Samsung SyncMaster P2450H 24" Monitor 1920x1080 2ms 70,000:1 (Dynamic) VGA/DVI/HDMI Glossy Black
or
Samsung EcoFit P2370 23" LCD Monitor 16:9 Full HD 1920x1080 250cd/m2 50000:1 Dynamic 2ms Dvi Gloss Black/Grey

is it worth going for the extra inch ?

wether its worth it or not depends on how much you have to spend
but an inch is a good bit of screen, if you get the 23" be sure you wont regret it in the future

No, and here is why:

-Mainly, for that price you can get this 22in 16:10 monitor. it uses an e-ips panel which is far superior to that samsung in every way (which uses a tn panel, here is some info on panel types). Here is a very interesting review of it, well worth a read.

- Second, 23in 16:9 isn't as big as you would think. I did some maths (these numbers are just for the panel):

23in 16:9 - Height: 11.27in, Width: 20.05, Viewable area: 226.04 sq. Inches
22in 16:10 - Height: 11.65in, Width: 18.66, Viewable area: 217.50 sq. Inches

As you can see, the 23in is a bit wider, but the 22in is actually taller. For viewable area, the 22in has 96% of the area compared to the 23.

Doesn't look like you get much for that inch tbh (well its all to do with the shift in aspect ratio, but still).
