Is it worth it?

X2250.png

this is what i got from AMDs site, so does it mean im ok up to 1.425v vcore and 74 degs?

Yup you are fine upto that voltage and temp, you could go more on voltage if you had the cooling to cope with it.

Basicly as your on stock cooling, temp will be the issue long before the vcore will be.

ok kool. i might give it a go over the weekend and see how far the stock cooler will allow me to go. do you think its possible to go to around the 3.4-3.5GHz?

Not clocked with AMD's for many years, so im not the best to answer that one, but as its stock is 3ghz, it shouldn't require to much of a boost, so id say yeh that shouldn't be to hard to reach.

Key factor will be temp really, so make sure to keep an eye on that.

always do an overnight test with OCCT and then a long test (normal a good 10-20 cycles) with memtest and then if i get no errors, play a few games and wait for a BSOD (well prey i dont see one). i know when i had my i7 i had an app that recorded min and max cpu temps but cant remember what it was called.

Coretemp/realtemp/open hardware monitor take your pick lol.

I personally use open hardware monitor for its nice sidebar gadget, that and its shows all temps/volts for everything.

but does it save them? i know lots that tell you what temp its on, but obvs if you have a game open full screen, you cant read what the temps are, so do these log the max temp the cpu has got too since the app was launched?

yup all 3 will show current, min, max. To be honest all 3 are so small, download all and see which i like the best.

Gpu - z or msi afterburner are good for that.

OR open hardware monitor which will have all monitored in 1.

lol dont think i will be playing with the volts on my gfx, too scary :) but might see if i can go over the 850MHz oc stable that CCC allowed me to do

Oh don't worry you can only go so far on the volts, it won't allow you to go crazy unless u use a custom bios on the card. So the volts it allows u to go to are well within safe limits.

But generally you don't have to mess with that unless ur going for high clocks.

unable to run msi afterburner on my laptop to see what its like, but it did run the Kombustor part, and man my laptop is poor, average of 12fps max of 16fps :( but it did run at 0deg apparently

Basically its an app, that allows you to tweak the speeds if u so wish, also tweak the fan profile, and has a side bar that logs and shows the temps/speeds/fan and so on sowing min/max.

Its easy to get to grips with so don't worry.

ok kool. will stick it on pc after work. got the weekend off (first time since i got my new mobo and gfx) so really want to have a play, havent had a desktop of my own to play with since the summer :(

well msi afterburner will not let me clock any higher than the 850mhz that ccc does, that the top of the slider bar, occt wont see my cpus temp, neither does hwmonitor and real temp says its not compatible with my cpu. so overall was a big dissapointment. any ideas whats up?

EDIT : Coretemp is also showing cpu temp as 0 :(

ok fixed it, it was the auto unlocking part of ASRocks bios was enabled, and obvs my cpu doesnt support it.

still dont help with msi afterburner though :(
