I have the Upgrade Itch again and want to upgrade my rig to a sandybridge rig.

My current spec is:

Asus P5N-E Sli
Intel Core2 Quad Q9300 2.50Ghz
Corsair Dominator 1600Mhz

The new parts that I would like to get are as follows:

Intel Core i5 2500k 3.30Ghz
Asus P8P67 PRO Intel P67
Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz

The other parts of my PC I would keep for the time being they are:

ATI Radeon 5770 HD
1Tb Western Digital HDD

I use my PC for gaming mainly but I dont want to upgrade my Graphics card yet, as I would rather upgrade the main parts but is it worth me upgrading those parts, would i notice a difference to my games.

I mainly play Bad Company2 and BlackOps at the minute.

Thanks in advance

If you think the computer is not performing then yeh, otherwise no. Personal preference though I guess. You will notice a speed improvement in Bad company as I did when I moved away from a Q6600, It is a CPU intensive game (beings its optimised for consoles).

I have Looked at the comparisons against both of the processors it looks like the i5 beats my current
processor hands down.

I will have to conceder whether it is worth the upgrade or not.

4GB is still more than enough RAM for games. No need for 8GB. Save a bit of cash there and put it towards another 5770 for some crossfire fun.

I'd say not; if your games are seeing low FPS, a new GPU will make a bigger difference.

I'd upgrade CPU + GPU together personally, for a bigger performance jump in newer games.
