There's your answer. No point just for tessellation really. Unless power draw and reduced noise / temps are an issue I'd stay with what you have until either it gives out, or you start using a higher resolution / need more horse power etc.

or buy a better monitor ! For less that price of a 5850 get a widescreen 19" or 20" that a 4850/4870 would be fine at.
