i overclocked my 7900gt and it lasted 1year,then started artifacting,then i overclocked my 8800gts 320mb,that lasted 13 months,before it died.yet my son has a 6600gt in is machine and its still going strong after 3 years,but as never been overclocked,so does overclocking reduce the life span of the card,or was i just unlucky.

It does slightly reduce the lifespan but unless you are running it right on the limit then not by as much as you have experienced.
I have got two 7800 GT cards that are overclocked that have been in service since release day back in 2005 I think it was. These cards had a upgrade on the cooler to a VF900cu but that is all that has been done with them, still running them now although I think a upgrade is on the cards soon.
