Is it worth replacing a Tuniq Tower?

I was thinking it was still a pretty good cooler, the main reason for changing it would be better performance. I can't fit anything in any wider hence I was thinking of the Venomous X, however I could use a Silver Arrow if I installed it in a bottom to top orientation as opposed to front to back.

Hey BlackBat :)

better performance? . . . from what? . . . the computer or the cooler?

There seems to be a new breed of OverCoolers emerging . . . it's all about the temps now and what you do with the PC has gone by the wayside? :D

What Tuniq tower are we talking about?...The first one of the newer Tuniq tower 120 Extreme?

If so why do you want to replace it?...imo the Tuniq tower 120 Extreme has to be one of the best Air coolers you can get....im running 28-30c on all four cores idle on my Q6600 @ 3.5Ghz....not seen it go over 50c when playing games...very quiet cooler too.

I'm cooling an E8400 (CO stepping @ 3.8Ghz, +65°C running IBT) as for "overcoolers" ... well that's why I'm asking, don't want to buy another cooler for no good reason. As for the cooler, it's the older non extreme version.

I used a Tuniq Tower 120 with an E8400 (C0) as well, ran it @ 4.2GHz 24/7 and was able to run it at 4.5GHz, ran the fan @1600rpm for 24/7 usage, temps under load (Prime95) < 70c, I always looked upon the TT as a pretty good cooler...wouldn't see any point in you changing it.

I swapped to the VX from the TT and it's much better. Can clock to 3.6Ghz under the VX but could only goto 3.4 on the TT.

You might actually get a better performance increase (and relative to money spent) by changing the fan on the cooler - what fan are you currently using?
