just added a 2nd hdd as i'd pretty much filled my 1st 500gb f3. i intend to move all the hd movies, which are taking up most of the space onto the 2nd hdd, gonna try and keep the first drive a bit tidier from now on :p.

just wondering if while i'm at it is it worth copying everything i wanna keep onto the 2nd hdd and re-installing the os onto the 1st hdd?

regards :D

I'd say reinstalling your OS periodically (i.e. every 6 months or a year) is always a good idea just to keep it fresh and snappy, but only as long as you can be bothered reinstalling all your programs and getting all the settings/configuration right.

However saying that, is your new HDD faster than your old one? If it is, I'd install the OS on your 2nd HDD.

both the same drive, samsung f3 500gb

I wouldn't bother if i were you, doubt you'll see any benefits.

thats what i was sorta thinking, i'll maybe just wait till she starts to feel sluggish, then look at a reinstall or get an ssd :p

truth be told i can't actually be bothered with hassle of a reinstall atm. but as the pc is only just over 7mths old, and i haven't noticed any sluggishness i think i'll probably just hold up till i grab an ssd in a month or so.

seem to recall many moons ago when i had an old TINY pc running windows ME that i just had to reinstall the os every 6 mths or so cause everything became heartbreakingly slow-maybe just my memory failing me tho!!
