Hello,

Its been some time since I upgraded the guts of my PC (used for games).
It was built around summer 2008 and consisted of:

MSI P7N SLI Platinum nForce 750i (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Corsair Dominator 4GB (4x1GB) DDR2 XMS2 PC2-8500C5 TwinX Dual Channel
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.00GHz (1333FSB) - Retail
MSI GeForce GTX 460 HAWK "Super-OC" 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Running overclocked at 3.6.

I mostly played WoW over those years with the odd COD and more recently BF3. I have never really had any major issues but can see the frame rates really dropping off now.

I think the GFX card will do for a while yet, but am looking at this:-
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-001-GI
"Krypton Z77 660i" Intel Core i5 3570K 3.40GHz @ 4.40GHz DDR3 Ivybridge Overclocked Bundle.

Whats the opinions out there at the moment of the performance difference to my current setup. Or is there another bundle for similar money (already stretched because christmas is comming)

That bundle will make a good upgrade, you'll see some nice gains from it.

But if you're stretched before Christmas you might also consider a cheaper option. Drop in a Q6600, or something similar, to your existing motherboard. Overclock it, put in some more RAM, and it should keep you going until Haswell arrives.

Christmas is only a month away.... And Haswell is expected to be 10% better than Ivy IPC wise which isnt a great deal.

That bundle will do very nicely.
