currently got xfx 5850 and its stable plays every game i have at high on all.
was wondering if i would see better results in playing if i clock it

Well you will get better FPS. dont overclock if you are happy!
On the other hand if you iverclock now and break it yoi are still within warranty so it is fine. I would just do a mild OC

Most 5850s will do 850 on the core without more volts, and 1200 on the memory, I ran mine happily (and to the best of my knowledge its still running happily with another user of these forums) at 875/1250, it was rock solid.

Best way to find out is to try it!

definetely overclock it, overclocking can sometimes make the difference between 50fps to 60fps on games.

use msi afterburner or Sapphire Trixx.

P.S. I overclocked mine to 950/1200 with 1.210V (don't go above 1.225v, thats the max safe)

Might as well give it a go. Don't get too addicted cos you'll be tweaking stuff rather than actually enjoying the games, like me.

Sry to jump in but i have same question about asus 5870 v2

It is at normal speed of 850 mhz and i did try a oc before but at the time smart doc and msi afterburner volt tweaks did not work for me very well :(

Say i go from 850 to 1000 mhz would that bring much more fps ?

Thanks.

I'd go for it. It's almost a certainty you can get 5 - 10 percent extra out of it... that's 10 percent more speed for about 5 minutes work.

Sometimes, you can get more though, so your mileage can and will vary.

lol no flames here :D

Just tested overclock.

Volts 1.49 max i could go with SD

Core 1005.

memory 5004.

I got about 10 more fps in bfbc2 :)

I did try the core at 1050 but it messed up and had to restart.

I think adbp1 5850 overclock would be more worth it though i might leave mine as normal for now.
