Is it worth upgrading a 8700k?

Planning on upgrading my gpu in a month to a 7900xtx. Will I be leaving a lot of performance on the table by sticking with my current cpu?
Current gen consoles are 8 core whereas this is 6, will I run into bottlenecks? I'm heading a lot about bottlenecks currently but I also feel that I've never seen this thing stretch its legs fully either

You would definitely see some benefit with such a powerful card, especially in minimum FPS, even at that resolution. It is dependent on the games you play and what frame rate you're targeting, and with newer platforms you get access to resizable BAR, which in some games will make a massive difference.

There won't be any harm in getting the card first and seeing if you're happy with the performance. There may even be more information available by then regarding the Ryzen 7000 X3D parts, which seem like they will be extremely fast CPUs for gaming, and possibly worth holding out for.
There's a bios update for my motherboard which can enable resizable bar which I've been meaning to install so I'm not too worried about that.

Thanks for the input guys, I'll wait a while longer I think :)
