Hi all,

Most of my gaming days were on the PC but then shifted over 360/ps3 due to friends playing consoles & its more cost effective. BUT now I feel that I have missed out on great games (crysis2, AVP, battlefield 2 BC etc)

My system.

Intel core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 2.40GHZ
Asus Maximus Extreme Intel x38 (Socket 775) PCIE – DDR3
Corsair 2BG DDR3 DHX 1333C9DHX Twin3X (2x1GB)
ATI Radeon X1900 & XTX - Crossfire
Enermax infinity 720w (Modular)

What would be the best upgrade to flaw up coming games (£ isn't an issue atm) & i know i need Win7 :) < have no idea what version to get though

Get 2gig more ram and update the Graphics to a 5770 or 5830/50

You'll see decent results from that!

Okay i shall look into it :)

You need to overclock that Q6600! :p

i have never overclocked anything before

What version of win 7 shall i get? & will my psu handle new RAM + GFX?

According to Asus this is the max level : Maximus Extreme DDR3 1600 of RAM my mobo can take i take it it can't run that Tri-Channel RAM?

Could get an i5 bundle for that with a new graphics card, should see you easily through the next few years.

and an ATI 5850 card would certainly give you an improvement.

For comparison, I had a Q6700 at 3.4GHz and have just upgraded to an i5 750 which is running at 4.2GHz straight from the box. Some may consider this a sideways move but i've certainly noticed the difference in games.

- If your having more than 3GB RAM you will need a 64-bit to utilise all of it, And which version depends on how much you want to spend.
Personally ive got ultimate and allways have.

- Yes

^ Thanks for that above guys :)

Decided i shall upgrade the RAM and OS and wait to get a new GFX card atm till next month.

Can anyone spec me the max RAM my mobo can handle *& also anyone have a guide to OCing my motherboard? :P

I think the processor will be okay has a wopping Arctic cooling freezer 7 attached to it :P takes up half my case ..lol

2gb more RAM and either a 5770 or if the budget will allow, a 5850.

Look on here for guides to OCing and take some screenshots of your current temps to post on here.

^ added temps image

Can someone spec a link to good RAM - 4GB for now .. 8GB seems a tad much

^ okay

Patriot Sector 5 Viper II 4GB Low Latency (7-7-7-20)

G.Skill Ripjaw 4GB SPD programmed at: JEDEC standard 9-9-9-24 values at 1600MHz

Lower the better?

^ Thanks XBLiNG , very helpful indeed thanks for your posts :)

Never used Patriot before they rated well?

I would trust basically any make that OcUK stock, as far as Patriot goes, I havn't heard any horror stories about them, definatley better than generic eBay RAM.
